I get excited about ideas with legs.
It all started when my dreams of being a vet were crushed with the dawning realisation that my Chemistry and Biology AS level results were not going to cut it. It became increasingly clear that Art and Design was what I liked most and was good at. A few years later in 2008 I graduated from Central Saint Martins where I had also managed to scoop a D&AD award. Since then I have been a designer in-house, at agencies and freelance.
Conceptual, scaleable, user centred design is my corner stone and composition, typography and photography get me out of bed in the morning. Creative problem solving, design strategy and context get me going. It's all about the who, what, where and when, then crafting and tailoring that story so it can be told with continuity on different platforms or places, whatever the scale or human at the end of it all.
Yes!
Currently I am Design Lead at University of the Arts London. UAL as described by Grayson Perry (Chancellor) as 'the world’s biggest factory for making trouble' is 1 university, made up of 6 Colleges and 19,000+ students from everywhere. As well as designing and working with a great team of Brand Strategists and Designers, l also water the plants, and occasionally talk to them.
I find it hard to switch off the creative brain. I’m always working on something – arranging foliage, taking photos, styling an interior. I obsess over obsessives, photography, architecture, interiors, the sea, pickled eggs, houseplants, golden rum and maps – sometimes at the same time.
